About
Originally born into a Cuban immigrant family in Miami, Florida. I have been a resident of Brisbane since 2016. I was always interested in art as a child but chose to pursue a career in software due to the economic and cultural effects of the 2008 financial crisis. Since the onset of the pandemic, I have returned to my original passions: taking up oil painting and other mediums.
My art focuses on depicting a stripped down view of the world through painting fleeting moments from life using the allá prima technique. Bold brushstrokes and bursts of color represent light and form. Subjects are moments and objects we take for granted, waiting to be experienced in a world competing for our attention.

Where did you learn to draw/paint?
I was a student at Brisbane Atelier Art Classes under Nick Leavey from 2021 to 2023. And I have been taking life drawing lessons at Chrome Street Studios with Wayne Van Eyck since 2022.
Currently, I am training in portraiture with Isabella Allis.
What mediums do you normally work in?

What brands of paint do you like?
For oils, I prefer Michael Harding. For gouache, I use Winsor & Newton.
What colors do you normally use?
That depends on context. But I normally work with “Dutch” palette.
